About This Event

Discover the power of the collect--a traditional form of prayer that can focus our hearts, clarify our needs, and deepen our relationship with God. Collects lie at the heart of Episcopal worship. The Book of Common Prayer includes collects for Sundays, holy days, liturgical seasons, and many of life's circumstances. Each one gathers the prayers of the community around a particular purpose, helping us express our needs and desires to God. Join Dean Nathaniel Katz for a monthly gathering exploring collects as a way of growing in relationship with God and one another. Participants will reflect on collects from the Book of Common Prayer and write their own prayers using prompts drawn from Scripture and the seasons--liturgical, natural, and otherwise. No previous experience with prayer writing is needed, and participants are welcome to attend as many sessions as their schedules allow. 2026-2027 Gatherings Sept. 8 Oct. 13 Dec. 8 Jan. 12 Feb. 9 -- In person during the Shrove Tuesday Dinner March 9 April 13 May 11 June 8 Registration is required to receive the Zoom link and follow-up materials.
