Women in STEM Panel Discussion and Reception

As part of the My Sister's Keeper program, we're excited to host our Women in STEM Panel this Thursday, August 6 from 2-4 p.m. in Fiterman, room F-1304. This panel is designed to expose our students to the many career paths available in STEM while giving them the opportunity to hear firsthand from accomplished women in STEM about their journeys and challenges they've overcome. The panel event will include: Welcome and introductions Moderator-led discussion with our panelists Student question and answer session Light refreshments Informal networking with the panelists Panelists include: Marizza Delgado is a Filipina American engineer, data scientist, model, and advocate for women in STEM who uses technology, leadership, and storytelling to inspire the next generation of innovators. She earned her degree in Information Technology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and is currently pursuing a Master's in Analytics with a focus on Computational Data at Georgia Tech. Lidia De La Cruz is a first-generation, Afro-Latina technology leader and Senior AI/ML Sales Engineer with a proven track record of building enterprise AI solutions at the intersection of research, life sciences, and emerging technology. She began her career as a Software Engineer at Thoughtworks, where she developed a strong technical foundation and recognized the need for greater representation, mentorship, and resources for women of color in technology. This realization inspired her transition into developer relations, community building, and technical education. Gabriella Uwadiegwu is a 2017 Borough of Manhattan Community College graduate with a degree in Computer Science and currently serves as a Senior Software Engineer at Carta. Her career includes software engineering roles at Twitch (Amazon), Synchrony Financial, and Spade, where she has built innovative technology solutions at leading organizations. Beyond her technical career, Gabriella is the Founder and President of Wetech, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women through mentorship, inclusive technology education, leadership development, and community-driven programs. Guided by Wetech's vision of a future where women lead digital transformation and drive sustainable growth across every industry, she is committed to ensuring that no woman is left behind in technology innovation. She also served as the organizer of one of the largest technology conferences in Nigeria and was a Founding Partner at Archangel Fund, which invests in technology companies founded by women across Africa. My Sister's Keeper (MSK) is a cohort-based student success and leadership program designed to support freshmen female-identifying students, through a structured summer bridge experience and ongoing support. Modeled after BMCC's successful MBK (My Brother's Keeper) Summer Connect program, MSK provides academic enrichment, leadership development, mentoring, professional exposure, and opportunities for personal growth.
