Join FreeDesigned for teachers in their first years of implementing New Visions Earth and Space Science, this series of six unit-based workshops provides just-in-time support as teachers move through the curriculum. Each session builds understanding of an upcoming unit's storyline and key instructional decisions, with a focus on translating the pedagogical shifts of the NYSSLS - phenomena-driven instruction, 3D learning and assessment, real-world relevance, and equitable sensemaking routines - into consistent classroom practice. Teachers leave each session with curriculum-ready materials, a peer-tested strategy, and a deeper understanding of how to use the curriculum to drive scientific thinking. Each unit-based session offers new immersive curriculum experiences and investigates how embedded supports and the Universal Design for Learning framework can inform responsive modifications for students with diverse learning needs. Audience: Science Educators, Lead Teachers, STEM Coordinators, Science Administrators Eligible for 6 CTLE credits. Can use 2-1/2 consortium seats This workshop supports participants in implementing Unit 1 of the New Visions Earth and Space Science curriculum. Educators will engage in immersive experiences with the unit materials, reflect on their learning, discuss adaptations to meet their students' needs, and collaborate with peers to problem-solve challenges. This unit-based PL also highlights a high-leverage pedagogical goal-using student questions, prior knowledge, or student ideas to drive learning about a phenomenon or problem and ensure the storyline is coherent from the student perspective.
