About this event
Join Shalom Austin staff and Austin's Jewish professional community for a special conversation with two extraordinary leaders from Galilee Medical Center, located in Shalom Austin's Partnership Region in the Western Galilee. Prof. Khetam Hussein, MD, MBA, Deputy General Director, and Smadar Ocampo, RN, MPH, Clinical Supervisor of the Pediatric Division, will share firsthand experiences from the front lines of healthcare leadership during times of crisis. Together, they have helped lead one of northern Israel's most vital medical institutions through war, emergency response, and complex humanitarian challenges. The conversation will explore Galilee Medical Center's groundbreaking humanitarian mission caring for wounded Syrian children and their families, offering a powerful example of compassion and service across borders and conflict. Attendees will also gain unique insight into hospital preparedness during wartime, learning how medical teams continue to provide exceptional care while responding to security threats, mass-casualty events, and the evolving needs of their communities. As senior women leaders in healthcare, Prof. Hussein, a member of Israel's Druze community, and Ocampo bring inspiring perspectives on resilience, leadership, innovation, and service in the face of extraordinary challenges. Attendees will also gain a deeper understanding of how gifts to Shalom Austin's Annual Campaign help support the institutions, partnerships, and leaders creating meaningful change across Israel, including in our Partnership Region in the Western Galilee. We invite you to join us for this inspiring and important conversation and experience firsthand the impact of our community's investment. Register here!
