Constellations: Pictures in the Sky

This is a family program all about constellations, presented by local astronomer Dr. Rachel Patton. In the first half of this workshop, find out how constellations have been used by people over the centuries. In the second half, try building your own with replica stars! Dr. Rachel Patton entered a space phase at age 5 and never left it. She graduated in 2024 with her Ph.D. in Astronomy from Ohio State and now works as a postdoctoral fellow at Pitt. Her research combines space-based observations with modelling to understand the effects of stars interacting with one another. When not working or parenting, she does a variety of science outreach, especially through the Society of Catholic Scientists.
