About This Event

Twin Cities author Laurie Hertzel will talk about her new book Ghosts of Fourth Street-My Family, a Death, and the Hills of Duluth. Ghosts of Fourth Street is a memoir about growing up in Duluth in the 1960s. The story is told through the eyes of the nine-year-old narrator, Laurie, the seventh of ten children, as she navigates life in a big, chaotic family the year her oldest brother dies. It is about family, about loss, and about the importance of stories. Laurie Hertzel is the former books editor at the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the author of a previous memoir, News to Me, winner of a Minnesota Book Award. She has reviewed books for the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, the Irish Times and other publications and she teaches in the low-residence MFA in Narrative Nonfiction Program at the University of Georgia. Date and Time: Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. Location: Marine Village Hall, 121 Judd Street in Marine on St. Croix Free. All are welcome. Author photo credit: Doug Iverson
