Member Curator-Led Tour: Women in Abstract Sculpture Art in Context Event Series

Advocate Members and above are invited to the first iteration of Art in Context Curator-Led Tours at Laguna Gloria, offering a new way to experience the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park. Guests are welcomed to a complimentary happy hour from 6-6:30P, followed by an in-depth tour led by Rachel Eboh, Curatorial Assistant at The Contemporary Austin. Centering women working in abstract sculpture, the tour will consider how artists across generations approach material, form, scale, and the relationship between sculpture and the natural environment. Guests will encounter works throughout the sculpture park, including Laura Lit's vivid, larger-than-life Impossible Beings, commissioned for her first solo museum exhibition, HOST: Laura Lit. Drawing on backgrounds in figurative painting, special-effects makeup, architectural restoration, and medical prosthetics, Lit creates tactile, polymorphous forms that hover between the phantasmic and the corporeal. The tour will place her work in conversation with sculptures by other women artists across Laguna Gloria's grounds. This evening also provides an opportunity to connect with fellow Members while experiencing the sculpture park in an intimate, conversational setting. 6-6:30P Happy hour in the Driscoll Villa 6:30-7:30P Curator-led tour with Rachel Eboh Space is limited.
