Happy Hour History: A Different Path to Justice - The Work of Connie and Arthur Eve

Local Buffalo State professor Dorothea Braemer presents two documentaries about the lives of Buffalo-based activists Lee Constance Connie Bowles Eve and Arthur O. Eve. Connie - The Powers and Possibilities of Community Engagement. These documentaries explore Connie's groundbreaking work on behalf of incarcerated women and their children, which has earned national recognition. The organization she founded, Women For Human Rights and Dignity, provided the largest and most comprehensive alternative to incarceration and support network for women in New York State's history, serving as a model for alternative prison programs nationwide. In Be Good, Make Me Proud - Arthur O. Eve & the Educational Opportunity Program, Braemer chronicles the work Arthur Eve undertook as a New York State Assemblymember to help students overcome educational and financial barriers to higher education in New York State.
