About Derek McCranie, MD

Dr. McCranie is a general surgeon with advanced skills in laparoscopy and is certified in robotic surgeries. He received his medical degree from Florida State University School of Medicine and completed General Surgery Residency at WellStar General Surgery Residency in Atlanta, GA. His residency included experience at a level One Trauma Center and Cancer Center in Georgia. Dr. McCranie performs general surgery operations that include but are not limited to abdominal wall and groin hernias, small and large bowel pathology, gallbladder disease, spleen, skin cancer, and EGD/Colonoscopies. “I had the fortunate opportunity to complete my surgical training at WellStar General Surgery Program. I rotated at several hospitals gaining a breadth of experience from level 1 trauma patients to elective bread and butter general surgery. I was able to learn from some of the best surgeons in the country at the busiest hospitals in Georgia. I am confident the experience I gained during my training will help me care for my community in the best possible way.
