About This Event

Alabama's Free Fishing Day! admin Wed, 06/03/2026 - 19:43 Get Ready for Alabama's Free Fishing Day Saturday, June 13, 2026! Each year, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) designates a Saturday in June as Free Fishing Day, allowing the public to fish recreationally in public waters statewide without needing a fishing license. What You Need to Know: No License Required: Enjoy fishing in Alabama's public waters without a fishing license. This includes saltwater, so no saltwater fishing license or reef fish endorsement is needed on Free Fishing Day. State Public Fishing Lakes: You'll still need a fishing permit to fish in State Public Fishing Lakes. Private Ponds: Always obtain the pond owner's permission before fishing in a private pond. Piers: Some piers may still require fees and permits, so it's a good idea to check ahead. Alabama State Parks: While no fishing license is required to fish at an Alabama State Park on Free Fishing Day, applicable State Park gate entry fees still apply. Red Snapper Season: Free Fishing Day falls during Alabama's red snapper season, offering a great opportunity for saltwater anglers. Remember, fishing license and reef fish endorsement requirements will be back in effect for the remainder of the year after Free Fishing Day.
