Wings 2 Roots: Habitat Heroes Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026 10am - 12pm $25 per child Ages 5 - 12 At the Education Center Register Now! Some birds have come back from the edge of extinction because people chose to pay attention and act. In this session of Wings 2 Roots, young conservationists will hear those stories, then head outside for a Gratitude Walk through the arboretum to observe how this living landscape supports the birds that call it home. Back in the classroom, every participant will make a personal Habitat Hero Pledge: one real thing they can do for birds in their everyday life. Everyone goes home with a native plant seedling and earns their Junior Habitat Steward certificate. More about the Wings 2 Roots Series Grab your binoculars and your curiosity! Wings 2 Roots, with the CI Bird Sanctuary, is a three-part nature series for young explorers ages 5 - 12, set on the beautiful grounds of Planting Fields. Each session blends hands-on classroom activities with guided nature walks, connecting kids to the birds, plants, and ecosystems right in their own backyard. Along the way, naturalists will uncover what birds truly need to thrive, explore the forces that threaten their habitats, and discover the real ways they can make a difference.
