Open in July 2025, this project marks a significant leap forward in local safety and infrastructure, providing a seamless connection for local schools and neighborhoods. The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony to celebrate this SPLOST-funded achievement. Date: Thursday, May 14, 2026 Time: 4 p.m. Location: Redwine Rd. and Robinson Rd. Intersection near the Starr’s Mill Tunnel Entrance (Redwine Road) The new tunnel and path system provide a safe, grade-separated crossing for pedestrians, bicyclists, and golf cart users. The project ensures that students and residents can access Peeples Elementary, Rising Starr Middle, and Starr's Mill High School without the risks associated with crossing high-volume vehicular traffic. The tunnel project (17TAI) is funded with Fayette County’s 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program. Please visit the SPLOST website for more information.
