Blair Kamin chronicles the story of Harvard's iconic gates

Precendent-Setting Portals: How Chicago-Connected Gates Helped Change the Face of Harvard and American Campuses Former Chicago Tribune architecture critic and Cliff Dweller Member, Blair Kamin, will relate the history of how Chicago businessman Samuel Johnston and Josephine Dexter (widow of prominent Chicago lawyer Wirt Dexter) came to sponsor Harvard's most iconic gates - and how those gates altered the course of campus design around the nation. A guided question and answer session will follow. Copies of Blair Kamin's book Gates of Harvard will be available for purchase. Blair Kamin is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for criticism and numerous other awards, including the Order of Lincoln, Illinois' highest civilian honor.
