General Manager / Leadership RoundtableThursday, October 8, 2026 (8:30 AM - 1:00 PM)NEPPA Training Center (200 New Estate Rd., Littleton MA 01460) Leadership can be challenging--but you don't have to navigate it alone. Join fellow general managers and utility leaders for an interactive roundtable where real conversations lead to practical solutions. This facilitated, small group discussion will encourage participants to be candid, share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore the topics that matter most to today's public power leaders. Bring your questions, your perspective, and a willingness to engage--everyone's voice helps shape the conversation. It is not restricted to those with a General Manager title but open to all those in leadership positions at their utility. Managers Executives Directors Agenda This agenda is subject to change 8:30 am Coffee & Baked Goods Available 9:00 am Welcome and Introductions 9:15 am Open Discussion 10:15 am Break 10:30 am Open Discussion Noon Lunch and Continued Discussion 1:00 pm Adjourn Facilitator Mike Hyland, PE Executive Director, Northeast Public Power Association Michael 'Mike' Hyland is currently the Executive Director of the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA), located in Littleton, Massachusetts. Mike took over the helm of NEPPA in May 2022 after a 40 year utility career that started inside a #6 fuel oil generation plant at Philadelphia Electric. Prior to his role at NEPPA, Mike was the Energy & Technical Programs Manager for the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) in Hughesville, Maryland, and his main responsibility was the oversight of the Solar Interconnection and Electric Vehicle programs. Before his stint at SMECO, Mr. Hyland served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering Services at the American Public Power Association (APPA) in Washington DC for 24 years. In that position, he was responsible for all the engineering, safety, cyber security, reliability, system planning, mutual aid and operations for the associations 2000+ municipal utilities operating in the United States. Mike is a Professional Engineer with an Electrical Engineering degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, is co-inventor on three US Patents, and now resides in Nashua, NH. Mike has been married to his wife Colleen for over 33 years. Together they have raised three engineering children: Reid, Erik and Jodie. Registration Fees Registration fees include coffee and lunch. Registration Fees for 2026: Members: $ 50 Non-Members: $ 75 Cancellations Cancellations are accepted until two weeks prior to the event. Substitutions may be made up until the day before the event.
