This designation is a state recognition awarded to local governments that demonstrate a strong commitment to public safety through support for law enforcement, strong community partnerships, and efforts to reduce crime. This recognition is not just about the Police Department alone. It reflects the commitment of the City of Smithville, our community stakeholders, and the partnership we share in working together to keep Smithville safe. “We are proud to receive the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026. This recognition highlights not only the City’s commitment to public safety, but also the strong relationship we have built with the Smithville community and the support we are fortunate to have from those we serve,” Chief Lockridge said. As a Missouri Blue Shield Community, Smithville may also be eligible for state grant opportunities that can help support equipment, training, and other public safety needs.
