Poetry at The Dalí

Poetry at The Dalí is an ongoing series hosted by former poet laureate of St. Petersburg, Helen Pruitt Wallace, featuring select poets on the second Thursday of each month. This month, Poetry at The Dalí welcomes featured poets Enid Shomer and Heather Sellers for an evening of poetry and conversation.You can view past poetry performances on the Museum's YouTube channel here. Individual books include Shimming the Glass House, and a chapbook, Pink Streets. A former Poet Laureate of St. Petersburg, she is the curator of The Dalí Poetry series. Enid Shomer is the author of six books of poetry and three books of fiction. She also edited the popular anthology All We Know of Pleasure: Poetic Erotica by Women. Her work has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The New Yorker, Poetry, The Paris Review, The New Criterion and others. Among her many awards are the Iowa Fiction Prize, Poetry's Eunice Tietjens Prize, two NEA fellowships in poetry and the gold medal in fiction from the Florida Book Awards. In 2012, she received the Florida Lifetime Achievement Award in Writing. NPR named her novel The Twelve Rooms of the Nile one of the six best books of the year. Shomer's tenth book, Riptide: New and Selected Poems, was published by Blair in June 2026. A Florida native, Heather Sellers is the author of 12 books, including five volumes of poetry. Her recent award-winning poetry collections are Field Notes from the Flood Zone (BOA Editions) and The Boys I Borrow (New Issues Press). Her new collection, Women in Tampa Talking About Alligators, features poems about daily life in suburban Florida in all its weird glory. Sellers' memoir You Don't Look Like Anyone I Know was an Oprah Magazine Book of the Month selection and an Editors' Choice selection in The New York Times Book Review. Her short story collection Georgia Under Water won a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award. She has also authored four books on the craft of writing, including Page after Page and The Practice of Creative Writing. Her essays have appeared in Good Housekeeping, The Sun, Parade, Reader's Digest, The New York Times, Redbook, The Royal Society of Medicine Notes and Records and Best American Essays.
