GALLIM: Preview Performance

Join celebrated interdisciplinary dance company GALLIM for an intimate glimpse of the culmination of their 3-week residency at Chautauqua. This year's showing includes two audience favorites, state and YEAR, as well as a new solo premiering this fall to Dreams by The Cranberries! Mark your calendars to witness the dynamic program that includes a first-ever commissioned work by another choreographer, former company member Sean Howe, at the Joyce Theater in New York City, November 11-15, 2026! Miller is a Guggenheim Fellow, the first Artist in Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and part of the first female choreographer/composer team commissioned to create for New York City Ballet. Recent commissions include English National Ballet and Abraham in Motion. About each work state Performed by a trio of women and scored by indie-pop artist RIVKA, state examines five distinct dimensions of womanhood, moving between intimate personal journeys and the communal strength built to uplift one another. Across solos and collective moments, the piece reflects on lineage, endurance, and how women carry shared histories forward. Dreams Inspired by the song's grand scale and singular vocal presence, Miller brings this atmosphere to the stage, investigating how a solitary physical presence can resonate across space. YEAR Where Miller's choreography often probes areas of friction to seek understanding and healing, YEAR turns toward joy, beauty, and ecstasy, exploring the capacity to sustain presence within those states. The work unfolds as a meditation on time, encompassing life and death, conflict and peace, loss and renewal. Driven by an original score by Frédéric Despierre. About GALLIM Founded in 2007 by choreographer Andrea Miller, GALLIM is a New York City-based contemporary dance company known for its visceral physicality, boundary-blurring artistry, and deeply human work. Through its School of Movement and expansive educational programming, the company provides training, creative development, and meaningful access points for artists at every stage. Programs include GALLIM Methods, repertory intensives, process-based immersions for makers, interdisciplinary offerings in film and photography, community classes, mentorship, and educational residencies at colleges and universities nationwide.
