Edward Steichen and the Garden: An Author Conversation and Book Signing

Join us in the Gloriette at Wethersfield House for a special conversation celebrating Edward Steichen and the Garden by Sarah Anne McNear. McNear will be joined by James Brayton Hall, President and CEO of the Garden Conservancy, for a discussion exploring the celebrated photographer Edward Steichen's lifelong passion for gardening and plant hybridizing--and the fascinating connections between his horticultural pursuits and artistic practice. Richly illustrated, the book reveals how creativity, experimentation, and a quest for beauty shaped Steichen's work in both the studio and the garden. (Yale University Press) Following the conversation, guests are invited to enjoy a wine-and-cheese reception and have their books signed by the author. Copies are available for preorder through our local independent bookstore, Merritt Bookstore, which will generously donate a portion of the proceeds to Wethersfield.
