Teen! Nature Classes

Connect with nature, build confidence, and develop real-world skills through this four-part outdoor series designed specifically for teens ages 12-15. Each month, participants will explore a different Peel Compton Foundation property while diving into hands-on environmental science, conservation, and outdoor learning. Throughout the series, teens will investigate forests, wetlands, gardens, and arboretums while strengthening leadership, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills through engaging activities and field investigations. Series Schedule: September - Compton Gardens & Arboretum: Explore tree identification, forest ecology, native vs. invasive species management, and seasonal changes in Arkansas's only Level II Arboretum. October - Osage Park: Discover the importance of wetlands through water quality investigations, wildlife habitat exploration, watershed studies, and conservation challenges. November - Coler Mountain Bike Preserve: Learn about forest ecology, biodiversity, ecosystem recovery, wilderness survival skills, and the balance between recreation and conservation. December - Peel Museum & Botanical Garden: Explore historical agriculture, pollinators, plant biodiversity, seasonal bloom patterns, and how sustainable practices have evolved from the past to today.
