Fire Mechanic Application Testing

The City of Erie Civil Service Commission will be taking applications and conducting testing for the position of Mechanic for the Bureau of Fire. Test candidates must have the following qualifications: U.S. Citizen18 years of ageHigh School or GEDCDL DL, class A or BPa State inspection license class 1 and 3, OR class 4, OR class 7Have a minimum of 5 years as diesel mechanicMust have own tools Applications will be open from Monday April 27, 2026, through Monday May 18, 2026. Approved applicants will receive an email invitation to test on May 28, 2026. Test location is at the City of Erie Waste-Water Treatment Plant, 68 Port Access RD, Erie, Pa. 16507. Registration 8:30 AM, bring proper ID. Military Veterans who pass the test having at least two years active, six years reserves or have been deployed at any time, will have 10 points added to their score. Those who pass the test and live within the Erie City limits will have two points added to their score, for placement on the Civil Service hiring list. Hiring is done from the Civil Service list when openings become available.
