About This Event

Lake Forest residents came together at Veterans Park on Monday, November 10, to honor local veterans and their families during the City’s inaugural Veterans Park Brick Unveiling Ceremony. Over 90 people attended the midday event, which celebrated the veterans who purchased commemorative bricks through the City’s Veterans Park Brick Program. Community Services Commissioner Tim Bruton, a retired U.S. Marine, served as emcee, welcoming attendees and introducing a program filled with heartfelt tributes and moments of reflection. Army Veteran and former Community Services Commissioner Victor Scherr led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an invocation from Pastor Vanessa Howard of Saddleback Church. Mayor Scott Voigts and Council Member Doug Cirbo, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, shared remarks recognizing the service and sacrifice of Lake Forest veterans and their loved ones. Council Members Ben Yu and Mark Tettemer were also in attendance to show their support. Following the ceremony, families gathered around the new brick installation to see their engraved tributes in person, take photos, and connect with fellow community members. Guests then enjoyed a catered all-American lunch featuring hotdogs and hamburgers. Located at 23102 Ridge Route Drive, Veterans Park serves as a year-round reminder of the courage and commitment of the men and women who have served our nation. The City will continue to add engraved bricks before Veterans Day every year, ensuring that the community’s gratitude is permanently reflected in the park for generations to come.
