Join FreeFamilies are invited to a morning of hands-on fun at Arapahoe County Public Works and Development’s (PWD) popular Public Works Play Date on June 5 in Centennial. This free community event is designed with kids in mind, offering interactive experiences that bring public works to life. Children can climb into big road and bridge equipment, try out “touch-a-truck” activities, become a junior building inspector, plan their own city, and more. It is a chance for kids of all ages to explore, learn, and play while getting a behind-the-scenes look at how the County builds and maintains the places residents rely on every day. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dove Valley Regional Park, 7900 S. Potomac St. Families can drop in anytime during the event to explore booths and activities hosted by PWD divisions, including Building, Engineering Services, Planning, Mapping, Road and Bridge, and Transportation. These teams support unincorporated Arapahoe County by keeping infrastructure safe, reliable, and ready for the future. "We encourage everyone to join us for a fun-filled, educational day to learn about the vital services powering our community," said PWD Interim Director Ceila Rethamel."It’s a great opportunity to connect, learn and discover the essential projects our staff handles every day.” During the event, PWD will also announce the winner of its contest to name a motor grader. All County elementary school students are eligible to submit an original nameby May 27. Learn more about PWD at www.arapahoeco.gov/publicworks.
