Join FreeJoin former artist-in-residence Akiko Ostlund for a free Collage workshop from 2 - 5 pm on Saturday, October 17th at the St. Mane Theatre Second Floor Studio! This is an all-ages, all experience level workshop where folks can explore the medium of collage alongside friends, family, and neighbors. Come alone or bring a friend! Akiko, and her fellow artists Uchenna, Stayci and Valentina will guide participants through exploring the broad creative possibilities of collage. Whether you're constantly creating your own cut-and-paste masterpieces, or are entirely new to collage, this workshop is sure to be a fun and fulfilling opportunity. Drop in when you can or stay for the duration to make as many collages as you like. Food and drink will also be provided at no cost to the participants. All materials will be provided, as well. Participants can come for a short while, or stay through the whole event. Walk-ups are welcome, but folks are encouraged to pre-register for this workshop, to help organizers estimate attendance and material needs. Register for free online at the link above. Akiko Ostlund is a visual artist, performance artist, teaching artist, curator, and an activist who lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A native of Osaka, Japan, she uses writing, dance, collage, and puppetry to tell stories that reflect her time, and a narrative of immigrant women of color that is often underrepresented. Akiko Ostlund is a 2026 recipient of an Arts Education Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
