Join FreeDates: September 16 & 23 Time: 6:30-8:00 Location: Room 216 This two-part workshop is geared toward teen writers of all levels who are interested in fiction-writing. On day one of the workshop, we will write to prompts designed to illustrate some of the essentials of writing fiction: plot, characters, setting, and point of view. These prompts will also help you to generate ideas -- or offer inspiration for your short story or novel in progress. Session two will be a workshop-style class in which you will receive feedback (from the instructor and one another) on a short scene you've written. Participants can use a scene based on their response to one of the prompts or bring in a scene from an ongoing project. About the Instructor Lori Miller Kase is an award-winning journalist, short-story writer, essayist and young adult author. She has taught creative writing to elementary through high school students and is an instructor for Westport Writers' Workshop. Her debut novel The Accident, published by Woodhall Press in October, 2025, was the YA finalist for the Tassy Walden Awards for New Voices in Children's Literature. Signed copies of The Accident will be available for purchase following the workshop!
