Beliefs, Behaviors, and Belonging: Teaching Religion and Exploring Judaism *IN PERSON* facilitated by Liz Burns Taormina - 8:30-2:30pm

This day-long workshop offers support to teachers of Global History I and others through content knowledge, teaching strategies, and ready-to-use instructional materials. Gain confidence in teaching about religion, learning about best practices from the National Council for the Social Studies C3 Supplement on Teaching about Religion and applying these best practices to case studies. Then, deepen your understanding of ancient Israelite civilization, comparing and contrasting it with the cultures of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, followed by delving into the evolution of the religion of Judaism as it is practiced today. Finally, explore the ancient origins of antisemitism in the Greek and Roman world and the interplay of religion, economics, and politics that led to various manifestations of antisemitism in medieval and Renaissance Europe. Eligible for 6 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1 consortium seat. If district pays, district approved must be confirmed prior to start of session.
