About This Event

Chautauqua Institution is honored to host its first naturalization ceremony on its grounds. A naturalization ceremony is a formal and deeply meaningful event in which individuals from around the world take the Oath of Allegiance and are officially welcomed as citizens of the United States. It marks the culmination of a long journey defined by commitment, perseverance and a belief in the ideals of democracy and civic participation. We are proud to serve as the setting where new citizens are recognized, celebrated and where our community can share in this historic and joyful milestone. The ceremony will be presided over by Hon. Meredith A. Vacca, U.S. district judge of the Western District of New York, and will feature special keynote remarks by Hon. George B. Daniels, senior U.S. district judge of the Southern District of New York. Full program to be announced. This naturalization ceremony at Chautauqua is presented in coordination with U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services. The judges' participation been coordinated in partnership with the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission of the New York Court System. NOTE: There will not be a 2 p.m. Interfaith Lecture on Tuesday, Aug. 25
