About This Event

A New Star on the Horizon A rare Roto-Sphere is restored and is set to shine over the American Sign Museum Thursday, August 12 at 8 pm FREE Online Event When you think of the stars for sign museums, such icons as the Speedee McDonald's sign, Howard Johnson's and Mail Pouch barns come to mind as must haves. The American Sign Museum is fortunate to have all of these on display. But there's another sign in this exclusive club which the Museum only dreamed of acquiring, and that's a Roto-Sphere. With only a small number ever manufactured, finding a Roto-Sphere had been a long shot for years. But the stars were aligned, and through a network of friends of the Museum, a Roto-Sphere was not only found, but donated and is in the process of being meticulously restored. It will soon spin and glow again in all its original glory. Join ASM founder, Tod Swormstedt as he shares the story of the acquisition and restoration of the Museum's Roto-Sphere with a little help from his friends--Debra Jane Seltzer and Alan Whitaker. Hosted by the Society for Commercial Archeology. Image by Debra Jane Seltzer.
