Storytelling Through Photography with Scotti Moody

This workshop is designed to help participants move beyond 'point-and-shoot' photography. Professional photographer, Scotti Moody, will teach how to use photography as a storytelling tool. Rather than focusing on camera settings or technical instruction, participants will learn how to observe subjects, patterns, shapes, and light, practicing skills that help communicate a sense of place, emotion, and perspective. Any camera is welcome, including smartphones! Prompts we will explore: What story do you want to tell about your exprerience in this place? How can a photograph communicate that story? What details-light, textures, lines, or subjects-help draw someone into your experience? Can you create a series of five strong images that invites another person to see the world through your perspective? Throughout the workshop, participants will spend time walking through the gardens and museum grounds, practicing intentional observation and developing a visual narrative inspired by the space around them. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to share their photo stories with the group in a supportive discussion. With participants' permission, selected photo essays may also be featured on Peel Compton Museum & Botanical Garden's social media channels, celebrating their creativity while highlighting meaningful connections to the gardens and museum.
