Join FreeHomeschool Day: A Day in an 1889 Schoolhouse Step back in time and experience a day of school just as Oklahoma scholars did in 1889! During this special homeschool program at the 1889 Territorial Schoolhouse, children ages 6-13 will be led by a costumed schoolmarm through hands-on lessons and activities inspired by a one-room schoolhouse. Scholars will learn about Oklahoma history and daily life in 1889 while practicing writing with quill and ink, reading from McGuffey Readers, and completing arithmetic on slate boards. They will also enjoy an outdoor recess with traditional pioneer toys. Cost: $10 per scholar | Registration required | Limited space This is a drop-off program only due to the limited space inside the historic schoolhouse. Scholars should bring a packed lunch. After registration, families will receive an email with helpful suggestions for packing a period-appropriate lunch and optional ideas for dressing like a pioneer. Pioneer dress is not required, but it makes for some darling photos! Ages: 6-13 Location: 1889 Territorial Schoolhouse Cost: $10 per scholar Registration: Required; space is limited Questions?
