About this event
The primary ministry activity of the DCM is a monthly gathering called the Park Street Fellowship for those living with dementia and their caregivers. The first portion of the meeting involves a time of group fellowship and music (led by a Board-Certified Music Therapist who specializes in working with adults living with dementia), followed by a light lunch with caregivers breaking out for a support group meeting while loved ones participate in structured activities and conversation led by trained volunteers in a safe and comfortable environment. In addition to fun activities known to help with cognitive function, activities are offered such as chair yoga to encourage physical movement and others to encourage creativity - all focused on encouraging active engagement and stimulation while acknowledging and accommodating for various ability levels.
