About this event

A Table Wide Enough for All Sunday, October 11 3:30-4:30 p.m. Golding Chapel All ages welcome What happens when we gather around the table for Communion--and why do we do it the way we do? Join us for Instruction in the Eucharist, an interactive, one-hour opportunity to explore the meaning, history, symbols, and traditions of the Eucharist at Christ Church Cathedral. Designed for everyone from children ages 4 through adults, this class will help participants of all ages discover more about what happens when we gather at God's table. We'll get a look inside the sacristy, learn more about the history of our Cathedral, and explore the vessels, vestments, words, gestures, and rituals of the Mass. Along the way, we'll discover how each of these elements can deepen our understanding of Eucharist: thanksgiving, Communion, and our participation in God's great love story. Whether you have received Communion your entire life, are preparing a child to participate more fully in worship, or simply find yourself wondering, Why do we do that?, there is something here for you. Because if God is building a table wide and accessible enough for all God's children, it helps to know where we are, who we are, what we are doing, and why. Come Early for Mes de la Herencia The celebration around the table begins even before the class. Starting at 2:30 p.m. in Reynolds Hall, join our Latino congregation for Mes de la Herencia, a joyful celebration of Latino heritage and culture with food, music, stories, and fellowship. Come for the food and celebration, then stay as we move from the tables of Reynolds Hall to the Eucharistic table in Golding Chapel. Food. Music. Heritage. History. Eucharist. Joy. Many gifts, many stories, one table.
