From Penny Dreadfuls to Baker Street: The History of Mystery with Barry Deitz

Literary historian Barry Deitz will present a history of mystery and detective fiction, tracing its origins in the mid-nineteenth century up through modern detective stories and films. Join us for a thrilling deep dive into one of our favorite genres! Barry Deitz was born in North Carolina and moved to Massachusetts in 2013. He has presented literary and historical programs throughout New England. In 2021, he became the director of the Conant Public Library in Winchester, New Hampshire. This event will be held in person at Manchester Community Library and will also be available to watch via livestream on GNAT-TV.
