We will be meeting at the Berkshire Waldorf High School on Friday, October 2, from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. Class size is limited to 8 adults so preregistration is required by emailing [email protected] Pie Dough & Classic Apple Desserts With the arrival of fall, we all start thinking about delicious apple desserts! In this hands-on class, you'll learn the techniques for making a flaky, versatile pie dough from scratch. Then we'll use our pastry to create three classic apple desserts: old-fashioned apple pie, apple turnovers, and a beautiful apple tart. You'll leave with your own prepared dough and the skills to recreate these delicious desserts at home. And, of course, we'll end the class by enjoying the apple treats we've made together! Jill Weinberg is a French Culinary Institute-trained chef with a passion for making great food accessible to everyone. With many years of teaching experience in the New York area, Jill has inspired countless home cooks to feel confident and creative in their own kitchens. Her teaching philosophy centers on approachable, home-based cooking--helping students understand not just what to cook, but how and why ingredients work together. Future Cooking Classes at Berkshire Waldorf High School kitchen with Jill Weinberg Make-Ahead Entertaining : Appetizers Thursday, Oct. 22, 3:30 - 6:00 Make-Ahead Entertaining: Appetizers With fall and winter celebrations just around the corner, entertaining can be easy and stress-free with the right make-ahead appetizers. In this hands-on class, we'll share tips and strategies for planning ahead and hosting a successful party while preparing three impressive appetizers that are perfect for entertaining. You'll learn how to work with phyllo dough to make classic spanakopita, puff pastry to create mini Beef Wellington bites, and prepare caramelized onion and goat cheese crostini. We'll discuss what can be prepared in advance, how to organize your time, and how to take the stress out of last-minute entertaining. At the end of the class, we'll sit down together and enjoy all the delicious appetizers we've prepared! Holiday Cookie Baking Class Friday, Nov. 13, 1:00 - 3:30 Holiday Cookie Baking Class What is better than the smell of freshly baked cookies during the holidays--or any time of year? In this hands-on class, we'll learn the techniques for making delicious homemade cookies that are perfect for celebrating the season, giving as gifts, or sharing at home. We'll cover the fundamentals of holiday baking, including how to properly roll and work with cookie dough, make beautiful Linzer tarts, and decorate festive butter cookies. We'll finish by making the classic Italian Rainbow Cookies, a colorful and delicious holiday favorite. And, of course, we'll end the class by tasting and enjoying all the wonderful cookies we've made together!
