Advent Lessons & Carols

Reception follows in Reynolds Hall The Cathedral Choir ushers in Advent with one of Christ Church Cathedral's most beloved annual traditions: Advent Lessons & Carols. Following a pattern established more than a century ago at King's College, Cambridge, the service weaves together readings from Scripture with beautiful carols and anthems of the Advent season. Through music and the story of God's promises, we enter a season of expectation and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Lessons & Carols is one of the Cathedral's most anticipated celebrations of the year and a wonderful opportunity to introduce friends and family to the beauty of worship at Christ Church Cathedral. Following the service, everyone is invited to a special reception in Reynolds Hall. For those who wish to receive Communion, a brief service of Holy Eucharist at the altar will take place following the concluding voluntary. Our regular Sunday services will be offered at 8, 9, and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Cathedral will offer its first Choral Evensong of the program year in honor of All Saints' Sunday. Free and open to all.
