These efforts are funded by a $313,600 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant from the Healey-Driscoll Administration to implement "Stronger, Smarter, Greener: Implementing Resilient Zoning & Design in Chelsea." As part of this work, the City will also develop a resilient design guidelines document that will be publicly released and serve as a resource for climate adaptation in Chelsea. The recommendations produced from this project will incorporate flexibility for future updates based on emerging climate science, new data, and evolving models of sea level rise, stormwater, and heat, ensuring Chelsea remains adaptable to changing environmental conditions. These strategies will support equitable, inclusive decision-making and ensure that Chelsea’s Green Zoning policies directly reflect the needs and experiences of its most climate-vulnerable residents.
