Steve A-Phlat Adams: Gospel Soul Series

The Soul Series, hosted by Debra James Tucker, continues with Columbus native Steve A-Phlat Adams, an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician, and worship leader whose career bridges gospel heritage and contemporary soul. Raised in church and mentored through a rich musical lineage--including influence from his uncle, renowned jazz organist Hank Marr--Adams developed his artistry early, harmonizing by age two and performing in ministry settings throughout his childhood. Throughout his career, Adams has served as a bassist, drummer, background vocalist, and featured artist on multiple gospel projects. In 2019, he was officially announced as a member of the Stellar Award-nominated group Men Of God's Heart, traveling and recording with the ensemble for four years and contributing to their 20-year legacy album, The Trilogy.Inspired by timeless artists such as Stevie Wonder and Roberta Flack, Adams blends gospel depth with soulful groove and contemporary expression.nWith the release of his single Think About That and a debut solo album currently in development, Steve A-Phlat Adams continues to create music that uplifts, inspires, and resonates across generations The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. Her new album is Voices, which continues her exploration of early black church forms in contemporary contexts. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer-winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
