Design Minded: A Shared Vision for Downtown Co-presented with Design Austin

A vibrant downtown doesn't build itself. It's the result of countless considerations around preservation and development, ownership and audience, public realm and private interests, and most critically--who is downtown ultimately designed for? We'll unpack it all at the Jones Center in a lively conversation conversation co-presented by The Contemporary Austin and Design Austin. From architects, urban planners, policy voices, and civic leaders, the discussion will tackle the challenges downtown Austin faces and focus solutions on how to make a city center truly livable. With the post-pandemic hollowing of office culture and a changing demographics, this panel questions how thoughtful design, honest policy, and genuine community investment can revive a thriving downtown.
