William Hilton Parkway Gateway Corridor Update focus of Town Council workshop

The Hilton Head Island Town Council will hold a workshop on the William Hilton Parkway Gateway Corridor on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 3 pm in the Benjamin M. Racusin Council Chambers, at Town Hall, 1 Town Center Court. The area of focus is U.S. Highway 278 from Moss Creek Drive in Bluffton to the Spanish Wells Road intersection on Hilton Head Island. Particular attention will be given to the corridor that runs through the historic Stoney community and across the Island's main gateway. The workshop will include the following: Beaufort County update on the William Hilton Parkway Gateway Corridor Bridge Project. The county, along with South Carolina Department of Transportation, are proposing to replace the eastbound bridges over Mackay and Skull Creeks with a new three-lane bridge. Review and discussion of the Town's proposed William Hilton Parkway Gateway Corridor Master Plan. This proposed initiative prioritizes safety, mobility, community compatibility, and gateway aesthetics, while maintaining alignment with regional infrastructure investments. The workshop will be broadcast on Beaufort County TV. Agenda and supporting materials can be found on the Town's website at hiltonheadislandsc.gov. In-person sign-up is also available in Council chambers before each meeting begins. All speakers must sign up prior to the start of the meeting to participate in the public comment period.
