The program features Chamber Music Amici's three core members: Artistic Director Eunhye Grace Choi on piano, Tomás Cotik on violin, and Steven Pologe on cello. Both works are scored for piano, violin, and cello, and each puts the full expressive range of the ensemble on display. Composed in 1788, Mozart's Piano Trio No. 5 in C Major is a landmark of classical chamber writing, marked by elegance, clarity, and the easy conversational interplay that defines his mature style. Ravel's Piano Trio in A Minor, completed in 1914, draws on Basque folk rhythms, exotic poetic forms, and shimmering orchestral colors to create one of the great works of twentieth-century chamber music. Together, the two trios offer audiences a vivid portrait of the form across more than a century of musical evolution.
