FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 5, 2026 MEDIA CONTACTS: Umberto Mignardi, Sean Dolan, Amanda Martins, Michael Anderson (516) 869-7794; press@northhempsteadny.gov   North Hempstead to Host “America 250” Memorial Day Fireworks Saturday, May 23 at North Hempstead Beach Park  North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, the Town Board, and the Veterans Advisory Committee announced that North Hempstead’s Memorial Day Commemoration and Fireworks Extravaganza—an America 250–themed celebration—will take place on Saturday, May 23 at North Hempstead Beach Park. Gates open at 3 p.m. with the program set for a 6:30 p.m. start. The fireworks will begin after dusk at approximately 9 p.m. “North Hempstead Beach Park is the place to be for this Memorial Day summer kickoff celebration,” said Supervisor DeSena. “It’s always a meaningful hometown tribute to our fallen heroes but’s it’s all the more special given the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding.”  The event will kick-off with a live musical performance by Decadia, New York’s premier 80s cover band, and will culminate with the annual fireworks display over Hempstead Harbor. Food will be available for purchase via food trucks that include Angies Empanadas, J & J Taste, Monarch Foods, Sausage Kings, Dom’s Chicken Fingers and Pupusas City. Vehicles will be charged a $10 parking fee (cash only). When the lot is full, free overflow parking will be available at Kiss Products, 25 Harbor Park Drive, Port Washington, with free shuttle bus service to the park. No drop-offs or walk-ins are allowed. Attendees are urged to leave dogs at home due to noise sensitivity, but service dogs are welcome. Additionally, drones are prohibited and will be confiscated by the Nassau County Police Department.  Beyond the fireworks, the Town will also host a special tribute honoring those who have served our country. All North Hempstead residents who are U.S. service veterans are invited to attend a recognition ceremony and enjoy a complimentary barbecue in their honor. Veterans and active-duty military will receive free parking or can take advantage of a free shuttle bus to and from the event at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park. Qualifying residents must register in advance by calling the Town’s 311 call center. Veterans’ free parking passes are available only with their government-issued VA card or an active military ID at the following locations: Clinton G.
